Frequently asked questions

What types of QR codes can I create?
Websites and URLs, plain text, email addresses (with subject and body), phone numbers, SMS messages, Wi-Fi credentials, and contact cards (vCards) that add a contact on scan.
Can I add my own logo to the QR code?
Yes — upload an image and it's placed in the center with a white backing plate. The error correction level is automatically raised to High whenever a logo is set, so the code stays scannable despite the covered area.
What file formats can I download?
PNG, SVG, and PDF, in the size and colors you've chosen. SVG is vector and scales to any size without quality loss; PNG and PDF are best for pasting into documents or print.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type, and no logo you upload, is ever sent anywhere.
Will the QR code still scan if I change the colors?
Usually, as long as there's strong contrast between the foreground and background — scanners rely on that contrast to tell modules apart. Avoid pairing similar or low-contrast colors.
Is there a limit to how much I can encode?
QR codes can hold a few thousand characters at most, and the limit shrinks as you raise the error correction level or add a logo. If your content is too long, you'll see a message asking you to shorten it or lower the error correction level.
Is the QR Code Generator really free?
Yes — free in the plain sense: nothing to pay, nothing to register for, nothing that lapses after a week. Your codes are unwatermarked and yours to use commercially, including the logo and colour customization other generators reserve for a paid plan. A single unobtrusive ad slot covers hosting.
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
No. There's no sign-up, no login and no email capture anywhere on the site, and nothing to install. Pick a data type, fill in the fields, and your code renders as you type.
