Frequently asked questions

How is the word count calculated?
Text is split on whitespace, so each sequence of non-space characters counts as one word — the same approach used by most word processors. Punctuation attached to a word (like "hello,") doesn't split it into two.
What's the difference between the two character counts?
"Characters" includes every character you typed, including spaces. The count shown below it excludes spaces, tabs, and line breaks — useful when a platform's limit only counts visible characters.
How are reading and speaking time estimated?
Reading time assumes an average silent reading speed of 200 words per minute; speaking time assumes an average speaking pace of 130 words per minute. Both are estimates — actual time varies by reader and content complexity.
How is keyword frequency calculated?
Common English stop words (like "the", "and", "with") and very short words are filtered out, then the remaining words are counted and ranked so you can spot the terms your text repeats most — handy for keeping keyword density in check for SEO.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
